Please Read Before Using America Wallet
This Risk Disclosure summarizes the most important risks of using America Wallet, a self-custodial mobile cryptocurrency wallet published by Meridian Digital Labs LLC ("Meridian Digital Labs"). It is not a complete list of every risk. For the full legal agreement, read the Terms of Use. If you do not accept these risks, do not use America Wallet.
By using America Wallet, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Risk Disclosure, and you accept the risks described below.
1. You Are Your Own Bank
America Wallet is self-custodial. You — not Meridian Digital Labs — control your funds. Your Secret Recovery Phrase and private keys are generated on your device and stored only on your device. We never see them, never have a copy of them, and cannot recover them.
If you lose your Secret Recovery Phrase, your funds are gone forever. We cannot help you get them back.
If your Secret Recovery Phrase is stolen, whoever has it can take your funds. We cannot stop them, reverse the theft, or restore your wallet.
Write your Secret Recovery Phrase down. Store it offline, in more than one secure location. Never type it into a website, share it with anyone, or store it in a cloud service, email, photo, or screenshot. We will never ask you for it. Anyone who does is trying to steal from you.
2. Blockchain Transactions Cannot Be Reversed
When you send a transaction on a blockchain, it is final. It cannot be cancelled, reversed, or refunded — not by us, not by the blockchain network, not by anyone.
Before you confirm any transaction, check:
- The recipient address (even one wrong character means permanent loss)
- The network (sending on the wrong network means permanent loss)
- The asset (sending the wrong token can mean permanent loss)
- The amount
Mistakes here cannot be undone. Take the time to verify.
3. Digital Assets Are Volatile
Bitcoin (BTC) is highly volatile. Its price can rise or fall sharply, without warning, and substantial losses are possible in short periods. You should not invest money you cannot afford to lose.
4. Stablecoins Are Not Guaranteed to Hold Their Value
USDC and USDT are designed to maintain a value of approximately one United States dollar, but this is not guaranteed. In the past, stablecoins have lost their "peg" and traded for less than one dollar, sometimes for extended periods. This can happen again.
USDC and USDT are issued by third parties (Circle and Tether). The stability of these tokens depends on those issuers, their reserves, and their operations — none of which Meridian Digital Labs controls.
The issuers of USDC and USDT can freeze or blacklist tokens at specific wallet addresses. This means funds at a given address may become unusable if the issuer takes that action. This is a property of those tokens, not of America Wallet.
5. America Wallet Is Not a Bank
Meridian Digital Labs is not a bank. America Wallet is not a bank account. Your balances in America Wallet are:
- Not deposits
- Not FDIC-insured
- Not SIPC-protected
- Not insured or guaranteed by any government agency
If Meridian Digital Labs were to shut down tomorrow, your funds would not be affected, because we do not hold them — but no insurance or guarantee protects you from loss, theft, or mistakes. That protection is your responsibility.
6. Third-Party Services Are Outside Our Control
America Wallet lets you interact with third-party services — on-ramps (Transak), exchange aggregators, and others. These services:
- Have their own terms and privacy policies
- May fail, be hacked, become insolvent, or act fraudulently
- Collect their own information from you, including identification documents when required by law
We do not control, audit, guarantee, or insure any third-party service. Your use of any third party is at your own risk.
7. Smart Contracts Can Fail
Some features of America Wallet interact with smart contracts deployed on public blockchains by third parties. Smart contracts can contain bugs or be exploited. When bugs or exploits occur, funds can be lost, often with no path to recovery.
We do not audit, endorse, or guarantee any third-party smart contract.
8. Regulations May Change
Laws and regulations governing digital assets are evolving, vary by jurisdiction, and may change in ways that restrict, tax, or prohibit your use of digital assets. You are responsible for knowing and following the laws of your jurisdiction.
9. You Are Responsible for Your Own Taxes
Buying, selling, swapping, sending, or receiving digital assets may create taxable events. We do not provide tax advice and do not prepare tax forms for you. Consult your own tax advisor.
10. This Is Not Financial Advice
Nothing in America Wallet is investment, financial, legal, tax, or accounting advice. We do not recommend buying, selling, or holding any digital asset. You should consult qualified advisors before making financial decisions.
